Greetings from the East!

Since time immemorial, February is known for being a month dedicated to, and all about love.

But February is not only about valentines and sweethearts; it can also be a month for self-
care, fostering relationships with family and friends, and loving others.

Brothers, our Lodge has been successful because we work together to practice the three
principle tenets of Free Masonry – Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. They define us as Masons and have made Forest Lodge a beacon of light in Central Wisconsin for the last 160 years. In 2022, we will continue to practice these tenets.

As Masons we strive for civility – among ourselves and with others. Sometimes that is not easy in today’s world. Fortunately for us, our lessons provide the tools we need to practice it in our daily lives. It is my hope that we will continue to strive for civil discourse in the Lodge. I believe it is a fundamental demonstration of our Brotherly Love to each other
and to the world.

Relief is the duty of all Masons, and in 2022 our Lodge will make a concerted effort to check up on the welfare of our brothers, widows and their families. It is important that they know Forest Lodge has not forgotten them and that we, as Masons, will always remember who they are.

And finally, Truth. Our Lodge will focus on applying our principles in all that we do. “Talking the talk and walking the walk”. It is something that we as Masons strive for every day – when our words and actions agree. It is my hope that we will continue to use the tenets of Freemasonry to align our actions and our words, thereby making a positive impact on our community.

I want to congratulate Forest Lodge’s newest Entered Apprentice, Brother Stephen Kalmon, as he begins his Masonic journey. Brother Kalmon was initiated at our stated meeting on January 12th.

At our stated meeting on February 9th, we will plan to have a Masonic Spelling Bee. This should be a fun event at our meeting, and an educational opportunity. There is nothing that you have to prepare for, just come and have fun!

I have designated the week of February 13th through the 19th as Square and Compasses Week. This is a time for you to show off your Lodge symbols to the public – shirts, pins, hats, rings, etc. Wear them proudly and see how many people approach you asking what they mean.

At our stated meeting on February 23rd, a guest speaker from Patriot K9s of Wisconsin will be joining us to explain their program – which helps veterans win the war against suicide, PTSD, Military Sexual Assault, Traumatic Brain Injury – by training them to have a service dog, at no cost to the veteran.

If you haven’t been coming to Lodge regularly, you’ve been missing out. We have fun and interesting activities planned for the upcoming months – please plan to join us.

See you at Lodge!

Sincerely and Fraternally,
Rick Schnabel
Worshipful Master, Forest Lodge #130
