From the East
My Brothers, as winter has finally (I have faith.) left us, and Spring shows signs of being established, the month of May has some lasting impressions. Our Stated meeting was well attended; our initiation of a new Brother, Dan Kerlin, by Wor. Bro. Dan Maguire, SW was nicely done; our Bro. Jake Seever did a magnificent job in his Master Mason posting exam, especially the confirmation of his Master Mason obligation. We also had a Special Communication with Wor. Bro. Beecher Daniels, PGM and Bro. Harry Smith, MSA presenting the Masonic Volunteer Visitation Services at Tomah V.A. Hospital and VA Centers; Bro. Jesse Furrer organized our first highway clean-up of the year.

Please check your Lodge calendar for scheduled summer events, and our website and Facebook page for event updates. Bro. Furrer continues to work on our summer events and sends update mails on them.

Thanks to all of you who continue to support our Fraternity’s principals with dedication, passion, and tireless efforts.

Fraternally, Jim Bitner, WM

AM I A BUILDER?
I watched them tearing a building down, A gang of men in a busy town.
With a ho-heave-ho and a lusty yell,

I watched them tearing a building down,
A gang of men in a busy town.
With a heave and a ho and a might yell,
They swung a crane and a sidewall fell.

I asked the foreman, “Are these men as skilled
As the men you hire when you have to build?”
He gave me a laugh and said, “No, indeed!
Just common labor is all I need.
I can easily wreck in a day or two
What builders have taken a year to do.”

And I thought to myself as I went my way,
Which of these roles have I tried to play?
Am I a builder who works with care,
Measuring life with a ruler and square?

Am I shaping my deeds by a well-laid plan,
Patiently doing the best I can?
Or am I a wrecker who walks the town,
Content with the labor of tearing down?
