March 2013

As I sat down to write this message I began by reflecting on my experiences up to this point of being made a Master Mason and the reality of now being Master of Mosinee Lodge 318, with the great responsibility of making other Masons. I quickly realized that being a strong Mason requires us to have strong foundation whereon we can start to “make” a man into a Mason. My foundation is strong because of the outstanding Masons that have encouraging me in my lodge, Forest Lodge 130 and my brothers in the lodges around us.

Our Blue Lodge is the place where that foundation building begins. We have learned through our degrees that our foundation is constructed of honesty, integrity, brotherly love, charity and relief to mention a few. Our lodge is the place where we will continue to make our brothers strong as Masons as they go into the world and maintaining their obligations.

I believe this foundation is the strongest and stays strong because of the brothers and Past Masters that have been made before us. Our lodges need the involvement of all our members. Our young Masons need the wisdom and knowledge of our experienced brother Masons. Our experienced brothers deserve to sit in the north to observe and help our lodges grow “without” the pressure to run the chairs again.

I would like all of us to think about what it was like to be a new Mason and the desire to seek more light. I would encourage all of you to continue to be part of your Blue Lodge, to return to your Blue Lodge if you have been away and to be there in the north to encourage and build those men into Masons so we can be like those Masons that have come before us with a strong foundation.

Most of all, I would encourage all of us to have “fun” doing what we do or it’s really not worth doing it!!!

Sincerely,
Kevin R. Sorenson, WM Mosinee Lodge #318
