Fall greetings from the East brethren. I’m not a huge fan of starting Trestleboard messages with references to the weather (way to commonplace) but this time of year I can’t help myself. Fall is the BEST: comfortable blue jeans and sweatshirts; crisp mornings and cool evenings; geese heading south; leaves turning color; opening of hunting seasons; fish start late season bites; school sports begin; fireplaces become active again; holiday seasons just around the corner…. As Summer ends, we look forward to a short Fall and gear up for a long Winter.

This Trestleboard is dedicated to what brother Secretary Barry Diehl calls the “end of an era” with the close of our current lodge building. This past Wednesday, the last stated meeting in the building saw the attendance of our Grand Master and a past Grand Master along with other Grand Lodge dignitaries. Brother Diehl treated all to an exemplification of the opening and closing of a lodge in the EA degree as would be seen in an Australian lodge. While I could not be present on this night, it is my understanding that the brothers of Forest Lodge did a great job in performing this exemplification and hosting our guests. The evening was capped with an award to Brother Diehl for his exceptional attendance record and personal dedication to lodge activities this past year. Finally, Brother Joe Barlow offered his thoughts on the last stated meeting in a building that has served us all so well. A great evening indeed.

So, once the lights were turned off and the door locked this past evening, do our activities cease? Not a chance my brothers! We turn the page to a new chapter of this great lodge. We look to building our new home with a fresh new look mixed with a healthy dose of our past. The end of an era always marks the beginning of a new one. Remember this important thought. You were first made a made a Mason in your heart, not in a building. Embrace the excitement and challenges of this new chapter in Forest Lodge #130. From here on, we start to write our new chapter. What part will YOU play?

**As a late update to this Trestleboard message, the prospective buyers of our Wausau lodge building have had their financing approved but need to complete additional paperwork and a building inspection before closing. This will allow us to continue to run meetings in our current lodge building until Early December. SO, we will plan to have our regularly-scheduled stated meetings in October and November at Forest Lodge in Wausau.

“Nobody owes anybody a living, but everybody is entitled to a chance.” Bro. Jack Dempsey
