I always bristle at hearing the phrase “90% of success is just showing up.” I bristle because it simply is not true. The converse however is true, “you cannot succeed if you do not show up.” Of course it is rare for anyone who shows up regularly to “just show up” and as a result the path to success becomes embedded. I write this because I would like all of my brothers to become successes in Masonry. By doing so Forest Lodge will become a successful Masonic Lodge and this will contribute to The Grand Lodge of Wisconsin becoming a success. As we learned in our earliest degree, by improving yourself, you are enabled to improve your family, your community and society at large. This is where it all starts.
It is said that you can choose your friends but you cannot choose your family. In Masonry we have chosen, not just our friends but also our family, as each of us has chosen each of the rest of us to be brothers. Sharing the bond of brotherly love is facilitated by getting to know your brothers.
Remember, your regular appearance at our meetings is earnestly solicited. This is not an empty phrase, there is much that we have to learn from you and much that you can learn from us. Most importantly, you are our brothers and we miss you when you are away too long.
I urge all of my Masonic brothers to find time to make a more regular attendance at our meetings.

Wisconsin Valley Shrine Club
Wisconsin Valley Shrine Club meets every Friday for a noon luncheon at the Wausau Elks Club.
Wausau York Rite
York Rite will have Grand Sessions on June 18 – 21 at the Hyatt Hotel. 333 Main St. Green Bay, WI. These will be our meeting days in June.
Scottish Rite Club
Meets for breakfast at 7:00 AM 1st, 3rd and 5th Wednesdays at Perkins.
Wisconsin Valley Shrine Auxiliary
The Wisconsin Valley Shriners Auxiliary is planning three benefits this summer. The first one will be on June 16, 2014 from 11:00 am to closing at Buffalo Wild Wings. We plan on one on July 8 at Texas Roadhouse (time to be determined) and in August at Applebee’s (date and time to be determined). The intent is for each restaurant to donate 10% of total restaurant meals on that date. The money collected will be sent to the Shriners Hospital in the Twin Cities to be used toward the purchase of new wheelchairs.
