Greetings from the East!
Wow, where has the time gone! The year is flying by, but we still have lots of work in the quarries to attend to. It is already September, and I am overwhelmed to discover just how fast this year has elapsed. The day light is getting shorter and soon we will miss the extra time to sit outside on those pleasant summer evenings.
It seems like only yesterday that the new officers were being installed, and our year in the chairs began. I was honored then, and still am now, to sit in the East this year, and humbled to follow in the steps of so many knowledgeable and passionate Masters in our Lodge. This year has been one filled with opportunity and I believe that we have seized those moments and made the most of them as a fraternity. We have seen our membership grow as men from outside of the fraternity continue to find our door, seeking to fulfill the need to grow as individuals. I hope everyone is taking away something positive from being in Lodge this year. I, for one, feel as if I have grown the most in my understanding and feeling of what Brotherhood means to me.
We welcomed another new Brother into our Fraternity on August 10th, when Jeff White was initiated an Entered Apprentice. We also welcomed our newest Master Mason, Aaron Wulk, who was Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on Wednesday, August 17th. Congratulations Brothers Jeff and Aaron.
Past Master’s Night is being held at the Lodge on Wednesday, September 28th. We will have the honor of paying homage to some Worshipful Brothers who have set the standard, not only in Forest Lodge, but in Masonry itself. For this year’s Past Master’s Night, I am breaking with our most recent tradition. The doors of the Lodge will be open at 5:00 PM. We are going to have a party-like atmosphere, sort of like a picnic.
Weather permitting, there will be yard games outside for everyone to participate in. Casual dress is permitted – you do not need to wear suits and ties. Come and be comfortable. At 6:15 PM, we will have a dinner, followed by the opening of Lodge at 7:00 PM in the Entered Apprentice Degree. All Entered Apprentices and Fellowcrafts will be joining us for this enjoyable evening. Please plan on attending.
