Greetings brothers,
Forest Lodge had the privilege, honor and pleasure of a visit from our Grand Master William Beetcher on Wednesday September 17, 2014. The Grand Master addressed us about three important items. The first was to remind us about the Wisconsin Masonic College Leadership Program. This is a program to help provide the necessary education to Masons who are on track for leadership roles in their lodges. Of course the program is open to any brother interested in furthering his knowledge about lodge operations. It looks to be an excellent program and will be offered multiple times in different locations and dates around the state. You may find more information at the Grand Lodge website where you may also enroll electronically. There is a fee of $25.00 but it looks like it will be well worth the expense. I would urge every brother to attend but most especially the deacons and wardens of the lodge as this will help prepare you for your upcoming leadership.
The second topic was the coordination of the Grand Lodge and Blue Lodge years. This would provide greater continuity between the Grand Lodge and Blue lodges as each set of Blue Lodge leaders would deal with one set of Grand Lodge officers. Also, it would mean that the new Blue Lodge master is not required to file reports immediately upon taking office as happens so often now. The proposal is to have all Lodge years begin in June, consistent with the annual communication. This is a big change and will require the changing of our bylaws. It is important that we discuss these changes so that we can come to a decision about this proposal.
Finally Grand Master Beetcher spoke about the new membership committee that was established at the last annual communication. It is important that we continue to create new masons. This is good for our lodges but good for the men we raise and good for our communities as our efforts help to develop men into better men.
Please take the time to let me know your thoughts on these matter.
Peter C. Rotter,
Worshipful Master,
Forest Lodge #130, Free and Accepted Masons
