Greetings Brothers!
We are now in the month April and the days continue to get longer as they also continue to move along on the calendar. Winter is having a hard time letting go, but we’ll be in the thick of spring before we know it.
Our first stated communication of the month of March was done by candlelight and it provided a unique atmosphere for us to conduct our business. During the fellowship that we shared after the meeting it was mentioned to me that what we had done was what our brothers in centuries past had also done: conducting business by candlelight. It was something that I had not thought of during the meeting, but was something that stuck with me in the days afterward. It really was special to share that particular connection in Masonry with our Brothers from years past.
Sticking with the idea of our Brothers from the past – During our second stated communication, we received some Masonic education from our Junior Warden, Barry Maxfield. Brother Barry gave a presentation about Perseverance Lodge which is a Lodge in the state of Wisconsin that involves meeting in nontraditional lodge buildings and typically with a theme of fur trappers as they made their way across the North American continent. He also brought in multiple items reminiscent of that era for display and provided explanations as to how they would have been useful and valuable to those that were making their way across a new land. Thank you for the education, Brother Barry!
Like the leaves in the spring, our lodge is continuing to grow. We recently conferred the Entered Apprentice degree to Christopher Doman. He was initiated on March 9th and I am excited to see where his journey in Masonic light takes him. The degree team was in top form and we had multiple brothers taking new parts in the conferral of the degree – Well done! Please join me in welcoming our newest Entered Apprentice to the Lodge.
Remember Brothers, the lessons from the Entered Apprentice degree are how we can begin to turn ourselves from rough ashlars to perfect ashlars. This will help us to improve ourselves, improve our society, and also grow the Fraternity. The message of spreading brotherly love, relief, and truth is infectious and can only help grow the Fraternity and make good men better!
See you at Lodge!
Sincerely and Fraternally,
Lars Framness
