This month I will be traveling east to Connecticut to attend that state’s Grand Court of the Order of the Amaranth. This has got me thinking about scope of the Masonic Fraternity. While the Blue Lodge is the base, and heart of Freemasonry, there are so many other organizations. Many of us are members of Scottish Rite, York Rite, and/or the Shriners. Some of us may even belong to the ladies organizations like Eastern Star or Amaranth. I know one brother of our lodge that even belongs to a Masonic Lodge of Research.

There are many others! National Sojourners (a Masonic body for veterans) and Tall Cedars of Lebanon are two organizations a friend of mine, and PGM of Connecticut, is very active in. Motorcycle riding friends belong to Widow’s Sons Motorcycle Club. Many of the Amaranth and Eastern Star ladies I know also belong to ladies only groups such as Daughters of the Nile and White Shrine. There is a National Association of Masonic Scouters too! Although it is not yet recognized by the GL of WI.

So, masonry is an amazing journey, whether one chooses to stay close the home in the blue lodge, or venture through the myriad of associated bodies, enjoy the trip!
